Sezmi promises next-generation television experience

By Nathalie | May 14, 2008

Sezmi, a startup company originally known only as Building B, is planning to launch a hybrid set-top box that combines broadcast and broadband programming to create a personalised viewing experience. Sezmi is starting pilot trials in preparation for commercial launch later this year and says it has entered into agreements with broadcasters in its initial markets in America.

This 19 pages presentation from Sezmi starts with an overview of the market. Slide 4 and 6 are showing users complaints regarding actual solutions.

The remote control design on slide 12 reminds me the ipod with what seems to be a touch-sensitive wheel, and the PSP with the star, square, triangle buttons…

Management is detailed on slide 14 with executives coming from Viacom, DirecTV, Sony….

It will be interesting to see the results of trial and launch later this year.
